About Danni
My favourite foods are chocolate, bananas and chicken (not all together). My favourite films are the Star Trek films, Serenity, V for Vendetta, Happy Feet, the Matrix Trilogy, the Monty Python films, and most sci-fi films (except Star Wars). My favourite television shows are Star Trek, Firefly, Doctor Who, House, NCIS, Dollhouse and Buffy.
I love the colour purple and penguins. I have a large collection of penguins, and I like wearing purple clothes, wear purple glasses and always have a purple pen with me. I have the nickname Purple Penguin as I like them both so much.
My other interests are computers and books, and trying to know everything. I want to be a network engineer or IT technician when I finish my education, and have always found computers interesting and found them easy to understand. I love fixing them when they go wrong and I especially love setting up computer networks and getting the computers to talk to each other. I also love computer games, and spend a lot of my spare time playing World of Warcraft with my friends, playing The Sims 3 and going on my Wii. I also go into Second Life to listen to concerts and meet up with my friends. In Second Life I either play an 8 year old (Danni Ohara) or an adult (Danni Torok, partnered to Johan Yugen).
My favourite types of books are non fiction, sci-fi and teenage fiction. I love to learn new things and reading is the best way for me to do this. I also like to read books that take me into another world. My favourite book is Jennifer Government by Max Barry, because it’s funny and also because I can see it as a possible future if things don’t change.
I was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome in April 2008. I also have some of the symptoms of dyspraxia (which I was told I had when I was 15). I have had some form of mental health difficulties since I was 12, but there has often been disagreement on what they are. I think my current diagnoses are depression, anxiety and agoraphobia, but I can’t be sure. Life both with autism and with mental health problems is pretty interesting.
I go to South Tyneside College, where I had a year at Interface (autism unit) that helped a lot with life skills, social skills and other things that autistic people can find difficult. In September I’ll be starting a 2 year BTEC National Diploma for IT Practitioners, while also attending Interface for another year. I like the college, and Interface in particular has been brilliant. I’ve made friends and enjoyed spending time there.

At last [technically challenged] I find your profile. You are streets ahead woman!. Can you tell me about dyspraxia from a grown up perspective? I just read a book on the same subject – dry and not particularly helpful.
Best wishes
